5 Most Scrumptious Homemade Dog Treats That Your Pet Would Love

You don't have to be a master chef to make tasty treats for your beloved pet. With suitable recipes at your hand, you should be able to make delicious dog treats from the comfort of your home.

It's a pretty well-known fact that homemade dog treats are relatively much healthier and tastier if cooked right than what's available in the market. That's why today, we're going to give you the five best recipes that'll allow you to cook delicious dog treats for your pet. Here we go!

5. Dog Donuts

Ingredients required: Bananas, Peanut Butter, Coconut oil, and Honey.

Notes: Dog Donuts are highly nutritious dog treats. Natural peanut butter contains many fats and vitamins, while bananas are healthy and fiber-rich. It's entirely alright to add other substitutes such as avocados, etc.

Steps:

I. Mix it Up: Combine bananas, peanut butter, coconut oil, and honey in a mixing bowl. Add-in the egg and stir until it is well mixed. Pour flour and baking soda in a mixing bowl while stirring.

II. Bake the Dog Donuts: Shift the prepared batter to a greased donut tin, place it in an oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 to 20 minutes, and your donuts are ready.

III. Top-off with Frosting:  You can bring innovation to this step as it pleases. For starters, mixing greek yogurt and peanut butter for smoothing up the donuts and garnishing with crushed biscuits should do the job.

4. Apple Pretzels

Ingredients required: Almond flour, Applesauce, and an egg.

Notes: Apple pretzels are a delicious homemade dog treat that almost every dog breed loves to eat. Other than that, pretzels are rich in B vitamins, such as thiamine, riboflavin, and niacin.

Steps:

I. Set your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

II. Place a parchment paper over a baking sheet and keep it aside.

III. Stir the egg and set it aside.

IV. Take a large bowl, add applesauce and almond flour, now mix them up.

V. Set aside one tablespoon of the egg in a cup.

VI. Pour the remaining egg into the bowl with the mixed ingredients.

VII. Mash the mixture until it forms a dough.

VIII. Roll a two-tablespoon-size piece of dough into a tube.

IX. Make a "U" shape out of each tube, twist the ends together and fold back to the top to form a pretzel shape.

X. Arrange the pretzels on the baking sheet.

3. Beef Jerky

Ingredients required: One-pound batter of ground beef, organ meats, and bones.

Notes: Beef jerky is an easy-to-make dog treat that's both healthy and delicious. It's a rich protein source, particularly lean protein, when made of a single ingredient.

Steps:

I. Set your oven to 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

II.  Place the meat mixture on parchment paper and flatten it out to around 1/8 inch thick with your hands or a greased rolling pin.

III. Score the meat in a checkerboard pattern with a blunt knife so you can cut it into bite-sized bits later.

IV. Place everything on a baking sheet and dehydrate for 8 hours in the oven.

V. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and carefully turn it over the sink to drain any grease that has seeped out.

VI. Break the beef into pieces along the scored lines, then arrange in a single layer on a cooling rack above a clean baking sheet.

VII. Return to the oven for another 4-5 hours. More drippings might spill onto the baking sheet.

VIII. Store at room temperature for three weeks, or refrigerate if you want to keep it longer.

2. Bacon Cheddar

Ingredients required: Four crisply cooked bacon strips, half cup shredded cheddar cheese, one and a half cup milled oatmeal, and two eggs.

Notes: The health benefits of Bacon Cheddar dog treats include healthy bones, healthy teeth, low blood pressure, efficient cardiac function, etc.

Steps:

I. Set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

II. In a mixing bowl, combine the bacon, cheese, and oatmeal. Allow the bacon and cheese to break up into small pieces in the mixer.

III. To make a thick, sticky dough, add eggs to the dry ingredients.

IV. To keep the counter from sticking, sprinkle it with more milled oatmeal.

V. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/4 inch. Slice out desired forms with cookie cutters.

VI. Bake the cookies for about 15 minutes on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

VII. Let the tasty treats cool-off before feeding them to your pet.
